what is ipv6?
the 128 bit version of ip addressing, with effectively unlimited addresses, supported by some sites and ignored by others.
ipv4 has about 4.3 billion addresses and ran out years ago, which is why they carry a price and why nat is everywhere. ipv6 addresses are written in hex, like 2001:db8::1, and a single ordinary allocation, a /64, holds more addresses than the entire ipv4 internet. for proxies that means volume is cheap: a provider can hand you thousands of distinct ipv6 exits for what a few ipv4 addresses cost. the catch is reach. the target has to publish an aaaa record and accept ipv6 traffic, and plenty of large sites still do not, so an ipv6 proxy simply cannot connect to them at all. defences also treat it differently, aggregating reputation to the /64 or /48 rather than the single address, since handing out billions of addresses to one customer is normal, so a whole block burns together. useful for ipv6 friendly targets at volume, useless elsewhere. myx sells ipv6 datacenter at $0.15/gb, us only.
