what is geolocation targeting?
asking a provider for an exit in a specific country, state, city or network rather than anywhere in the pool.
with a backconnect gateway you express the request in the proxy username, for example user-country-de-city-berlin, and the gateway picks a matching exit. how fine you can go depends on the product and on real supply. country is always available. state and city need enough live devices in that place. asn targeting picks a specific isp or carrier. the tradeoff is pool size: country plus city plus asn can narrow millions of addresses down to a handful, which then rotate slowly and burn quickly under load. accuracy is bounded by the geolocation databases your target uses, and those disagree with each other, so the address you get is where your provider believes it sits, which usually but not always matches what the site believes. myx residential supports country, state, city and asn; mobile supports country and asn; the datacenter, isp and ipv6 products are us only.
